Build the list before you search: home state from the contract, states where the company has employees or an office, and any state named in a UCC filing or a license. Then use the state pages here. A multi-state search checklist beats a single box that pretends to be official.
“National business name search” and “national LLC search” describe the job, not a database. Formation is state law. A company can be an LLC in Wyoming, registered as a foreign LLC in Colorado, and using a county assumed name in Texas. Three records, three offices. A nationwide pass that checks only the headquarters state will miss the foreign qualification.
